Friday night, over 800 patrons of the arts were sipping on suds at the 8th AnnualARTonTAP beer tasting event at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. With 80+ varieties of beer on tap plus food from McNellies, the Museum Café, Old Germany Restaurant and Texadelphia, this was truly a celebration of the tastebuds!
The SOLD OUT event is one of four events the OKC MOA hosts throughout the year to raise money to bring in more world-class exhibitions to the museum. ARTonTAP, of course, is one of the most fun. “It’s a really cool event,” said Whitney Cross Moore, Associate Development Officer. “It let’s us show people how fun the museum is. We’re not stuffy!” she laughed.
The weather was spectacular for the Stella Artois Roof Terrace Beer Garden where the band Born in November was playing, but festivities were spread throughout the lobbies and even one of the galleries. On the second floor, DJ Ostara kept things lively while visitors took in a variety of artwork.
ARTonTAP is a certified ECO Gold event with 99% of all the waste being recycled or composted. “After last year’s event, we had only two trashbags in the dumpster,” said Whitney. “And most of that was from the disposable cups we used for the beer tasting.”
This year, ROBYN Promotions created some very cool mini 5-ounce mugs that are imprinted with the event name for attendees to use. Not only did these awesome mugs help reduce the amount of waste, but they also provided a cool keepsake for people to take home with them (empty, of course!).
With beers from local brewers such as COOP Ale as well as exotic beers from around the world, the 8th Annual ARTonTAP event was destined to be a success. “People love this event,” said Whitney. “And we love for them to keep coming back!”
Cheers to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art!
