The month of May was a rough one for many of our friends in Oklahoma. On May 19th, tornadoes ripped through several communities to the east of Oklahoma City. On May 20th, the granddaddy of all tornadoes pulverized thousands of homes in Moore, just south of OKC. And, on May 31st, another F-5 tore through El Reno, south OKC and some of the same folks in Moore. Plus, we’ve seen softball-sized hail and flooding rains to add insult to injury. Oklahoma is tired.
Fortunately, we have some tremendous friends – supplier partners and fellow distributors – across the country who have stepped up to help. For the past two weeks, we have been receiving pallets of donated supplies from these friends to distribute to those in need throughout Oklahoma. We would like to take a moment to tip our hats to these fine folks and offer a heartfelt Oklahoma “Thanks, Buddy” to them now:
Maple Ridge Farms
Simple X Promotional Products
Paperclip Promotions (Ruth Verver contacted many suppliers on our behalf!)
ROBYN’s warehouse guys have been kept very busy receiving donated products, loading it into one of our delivery vans and taking it to the command centers in the hardest hit areas to be distributed to those in need. Items such as flashlights, gloves, hand-crank weather radios, cell phones, battery chargers, sunscreen, tote bags, hand gel, safety goggles, hard hats… all kinds of amazing things to Moore, Carney and Shawnee.
The City of Moore has asked donors to hold donations for the time being while they work out a long-term system. However, there are many organizations who are doing fantastic work that could use your financial support, such as:
The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma
The Salvation Army
Feed the Children
Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
Thanks again to everyone who has helped us meet the needs of the survivors in our community. If we somehow left you off the list, please let us know as we want to recognize everyone who has played a part.
