No… Wait! This is a good thing!
Two years ago, the leaders of the Oklahoma City chapter of the American Marketing Association wanted to start hosting a happy hour networking event with the other marketing/communications professionals in the city (PRSA, AdClub and IABC). At the same time, they wanted to honor someone at each of the events for doing some great work in the marketing arena.
Enter the Marketer of Oklahoma (MofO) Award.
Yesterday, at the organization’s “MofO de Mayo” party at Mamasita’s, it was the mayor of Oklahoma City, Mick Cornett, upon whom the honor was bestowed. “Thank you very much,” said the mayor. “Of course, it’s easier to be a good marketer when you have a great product, and Oklahoma City is definitely a great product.”
Of course, it truly is an honor… And it was well deserved. During Cornett’s time as mayor, the following has happened:
And, in 2010, Cornett was named “Public Official of the Year” by Governing magazine. How does that compare to being named a MofO by his hometown?
“There really is no comparison!” he said.
