It’s been well documented that marketers like to throw a good party, but when the AMAOKC fires up the annual Freezin’ Season Jingle Mingle each year, it’s a knock-down-drag-out party with a purpose!
“The FSJM is a unique event because it brings together the entire Oklahoma City marcomm community – our friends over at PRSA, AdClub, IABC and all the other clubs that pushed the information out to their members,” said Kevin Jessop, president of AMAOKC. “Everyone has a great time eating, drinking and networking, but our main purpose is two-fold: to raise as much money for charity as is humanly possible and to honor an outstanding member of the marketing community by awarding them our very own MofO award (Marketer of Oklahoma).”
Sponsored by Evolve Research, Directing Design, Loose Lid Creative and ROBYN Promotions, the real magic is created by the generous folks who donate raffle items. “We had a record number of raffle prize donations from some great companies this year,” said Kevin, “and two prizes were donated by incredibly generous individuals who really believe in the work of Positive Tomorrows, the charity we chose to help this year.” ROBYN’s own Becky Duckett, Senior Account Executive, and Becky Shultz, Production Manager, are the individuals who truly showed the spirit of the season by digging deep and donating an Apple TV and a Kindle Fire HD!
Other raffle items this year included a mini iPad, Thunder tickets, framed original art, a Coach bag, gift cards and much, much more. With more than 80 professionals in attendance, the event raised over $2,000 – every penny of which will go to Positive Tomorrows, a school designed to give stability to homeless children.
And, a new MofO was announced. “Our winner this year is someone who has done an outstanding job of tirelessly working with the local business and residential community to make the Plaza District an awesome place to live, shop, drink and eat… Miss Kristen Vails!” said the president.
The event helped to usher in the holiday season, even though the temperature outside was hovering in the upper 60’s. There’s a cold front blowing in this week, though, and we’ve got a great idea for you to enjoy the frosty air… S’mores by the fireplace! Get your free kit today.
We’ll see our OKC friends at the PRSA Tacky Sweater Party on December 12th. Remember to bring a coat to donate to the Warmth for Winter program!
