Recruiting 101 with SandRidge Energy
Competition is tough in every industry, and finding the talent to keep a company competitive is an ongoing challenge. Each year, SandRidge Energy visits college campuses across Oklahoma and neighboring states in search of the brightest minds to help fuel their future.
Each spring and fall, the SandRidge recruiters hit the road to attend career fairs at universities throughout the region to talk with students majoring in engineering, IT, accounting and other business specialties about internships at SandRidge. How do they get the students’ attention in a crowded auditorium, though? By giving stuff away, of course!
“The students swarm to the cool items,” says Ashley McDaniel, a recruiter for SandRidge. “We’ve used water bottles the last couple of years, so I wanted to do something different this year... Something we haven’t seen before.”
The SandRidge Communications Department worked with ROBYN Promotions to design this Tervis-inspired, double-walled tumbler that works for either hot or cold beverages. What really sets it apart, though, is the custom woven patch with the SandRidge logo encapsulated inside the tumbler.
Recruiting for the spring has already been completed with 40 new interns reporting to the Oklahoma City office in May for the 12-week intern program. Interestingly, over half of the interns are from out of state, with SandRidge helping with their relocation. “We are hopeful that these interns will become full-time employees after they graduate,” said Ashley.
