What do you get when you cross the hottest technology conference in the United States, the leading entertainment auction site on the internet and a hacky sack?
One heckuva good time, that’s what!
Every March, tens of thousands of people from a variety of backgrounds flock to Austin to experience SXSW (South by Southwest). Started in 1987 as an indie music event, SXSW has grown into a world-renowned celebration of music, film and emerging technology. Just the place for a company like QuiBids.
“It makes sense for us to be there,” said Jill Farrand, Director of Public Relations. “This is about new, innovative companies who do things differently and QuiBids is all about fun!”
This is the second year QuiBids will have a booth in the Buffalo Lounge that is sponsored by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma Film & Music Office. The Buffalo Lounge is an official part of SXSW that takes up residence at Friends on 6th Street during the conference and celebrates Oklahoma businesses at the SXSW conference.
“It’s a great networking opportunity and one small way for us to showcase ourselves,” said Jill. “You never know who you might meet at South by Southwest!”
So, what about the awesome hacky sacks? How did those come about?
“We’re giving away some t-shirts at the conference because… Well, everyone loves t-shirts. But we wanted to do something different, too. Everyone at this conference has a smart phone, so the small screen cleaners are pretty popular,” Jill said. “The hacky sacks seem to really fit in well with the overall feeling down there, though!”
